Milledgeville murder trial started Tuesday

The murder trial started Tuesday for three men accused of kidnapping and beating a Milledgeville man to death before dumping him in Putnam County, said Ocmulgee District Attorney Fred Bright.

Roy Lee Bradshaw, 48, of Dublin; Mims Michael Morris Sr., 47, of Sardis; and Mims Michael Morris Jr., 18, of Sardis, are charged with murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and robbery in connection with the March 15, 2008, beating of 44-year-old Earl Eugene Gill, Bright said.

The men allegedly gave Gill $25 to buy drugs. Gill attempted to buy the drugs, but was unable to obtain any and lost the $25. When he returned without the drugs or the money, the men forced him into a van, Bright said.

Inside the van, the men beat him with their hands and feet and dumped him in Putnam County. Gill lived for 11 days after the beating.

Bright said Bradshaw’s wife, who drove the van, also was charged in connection with the case. She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and is serving a prison term, according to state prison records.
