Report: Inmate stabs another with pen in Bibb jail

Officials at the Bibb County jail responded to a commotion Tuesday in one of the cell blocks when inmate allegedly stabbed another with a pen, according to a sheriff’s report.

According to the report, inmate Larry Maynard informed officials that he stabbed inmate Joseph Fields in the back of the neck with a pen. Deputies recovered the pen along with a substance that looked like blood, the report said.

Maynard was moved into an isolation tank while Fields was treated by the jail’s medical staff before returning to the general population, the report said.
