Masked man fires shot in attempted robbery at Macon gas station

A masked man fired a gunshot at a 50-year-old Macon man Wednesday night in an attempted armed robbery outside Citgo, 1803 Pio Nono Ave., according to the Macon police.

A Sherwood Drive man told police he was standing in the parking lot about 9 p.m. when a man with a blue bandana over his face came from behind the store and attempted to rob him, according to a police report.

The gunman pointed a rifle at the man, but missed. The man ran into the store and the gunman fled to a wooded area behind the store, according to the report.

Police recovered a .22 caliber shell casing from near where the man was standing, according to the report.
