Teen injured in fight after getting off school bus

An 18-year-old Macon man was injured Friday after a getting off a school bus with his 16-year-old brother near the corner of San Juan and Villa Crest avenues, according to the Macon police.

Police were dispatched to the area at about 2:50 p.m. in response to a large fight and firearms being discharged, according to a police news release.

When they arrived, the officers found Timothy Lewis, 18, with an injury to his neck. Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said officers are unsure whether Lewis was injured by gunfire or the fight.

Lewis told officers a gray vehicle followed his bus from Southwest High School to his bus stop. As he and his brother were walking away from the bus stop, they were approached by eight males from the vehicle, according to the release.

The group got into a fight and one of the men pulled out a gun. One round was fired, according to the release.Police say the fight stemmed from an altercation last week that involved Lewis and one of the eight men.

Lewis was treated at the scene for his injury.
