Man, gas line shot in armed robbery at apartments

Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators are looking into an armed robbery that took place Thursday night about 11:48 at the West Club Apartments.

According to a report, one of the victims was outside an apartment talking on a phone when he was approached by three suspects wearing all black clothing with black bandannas. One suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and ordered him to lie down, taking $60 from him.

A second victim came out of the apartment and was also confronted by the suspects, who took $25 off him. The suspects then kicked in the apartment door while a third victim tried to bar the door, the report stated. The suspect with the handgun fired several shots into the apartment, one of which struck the victim inside the apartment in his leg. The suspects then fled the scene, running south toward Lucille Driskell Drive.

Two bullets outside the apartment struck a natural gas line, causing a leak, the report states. Other tenants were evacuated as Macon-Bibb Fire Department officials responded and shut down the line. The victim who was shot was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
