Shots fired at detective in Macon

Macon police are investigating shots fired at a detective just after midnight Tuesday morning on Gordon Street.

According to the report, three or four men fired shots at a Macon police detective. When other police officers arrived, the officers saw two or three people fleeing the scene. The officers pursued on foot while another man was hiding in the bushes, dressed in black with a small .380 pistol.

The detective said he fired his Taser at one subject who approached him with a pistol. Police arrested Kenneth C. Francis Jr. of Dalton Avenue in Macon and charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the report said.
