Macon police are investigating a robbery by sudden snatching that occurred Monday afternoon outside the Bank of America at 2720 Riverside Drive, a report stated.
The victim, Michael Stilwell, is the manager of S&S Cafeteria. He had gone to the bank around 3:20 p.m. to make a business deposit when a silver or gray GMC style van circled around the parking lot before blocking his path. A man, wearing a hat and a black bandana, grabbed the money bag and shoved Stilwell to the ground, the report stated.
A second man also jumped out of the van. One of the men threatened to shoot Stilwell. The men got back into the van and headed south on Riverside Drive.
According to the report, it’s believed the bank bag contained between $15,000 and $20,000 in cash and checks. Stilwell also told police that he believes the van circled the restaurant shortly before he left the location.
