Macon man charged with hitting store employee with beer bottle

A 35-year-old Macon man has been charged with aggravated assault after striking a Chevron employee in the head with a beer bottle, according to Macon police.

Laran Denard Towles, of Lincoln Avenue, allegedly injured Wendy Patterson, an employee of the Chevron, 1257 Riverside Drive, at 5:45 p.m. Monday, according to a police news release.

Towles had stormed out of the store before the assault because someone cut in line in front of him. When he returned, the beer that he planned to purchase had been put back in the cooler, according to the release.

Towles then grabbed a beer bottle from the cooler and struck Patterson with it, according to the release. Patterson was treated and released from The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Towles is being held at the Bibb County jail on $27,700 bond, according to jail records.
