Man shot in possible gang-related incident in Macon

A 19-year-old Macon man was shot in the thigh near his buttocks about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to Macon police.

Adrian Wilburn, of Brentwood Avenue, was walking on Cherry Avenue with his brother when they passed a group of four to five men standing on the corner of Hillyer and Cherry avenues, according to a police report released Wednesday.

The men asked the brothers which gang they were affiliated with and started approaching them, according to the report.

Wilburn and his brother ran and a man wearing a bandana over his face, blue shirt, blue hat and dark pants started shooting at them, according to the report.

The brothers tried to get help at a house on Cherry Avenue, but no one came to the door. Wilburn was shot outside the house, according to the report.

They continued to run until they spotted a police officer near the intersection of Montpelier and Courtland avenues, according to the report.

Officers recovered seven .40 caliber rounds of ammunition near the corner of Hillyer and Cherry avenues, according to the report.
