Two unrelated shootings reported in Macon

Macon police are investigating shootings near a Pio Nono Avenue business and a Greenwood Court residence that occurred Friday and Saturday.

An employee of Downtown Opticians, 3131 Pio Nono Ave., reported she was outside smoking a cigarette at about 6 p.m. Friday when she heard five gunshots, according to a police report released today.

A bullet broke the glass on the rear door of the business and officers recovered a bullet fragment outside the back of the building, according to the report.

In a separate incident, a man living in the 2300 block of Greenwood Court told police someone fired several gunshots at his house about 10:15 p.m. Saturday while he watched a movie in a back room with two other people, according to a police report.

The man waited a few minutes and then went to a front room where he found four bullet holes in a window. Officers later found a bullet lodged in the kitchen window frame, according to the police.

The man told officers he’d had a verbal confrontation with a man he didn’t know at Melody’s Magic Mart on Rocky Creek Road earlier that night.

The man from the store followed him home, but sped off after he started to go inside the house, according to the report.
