Macon man charged with cocaine trafficking

A 19-year-old Macon man has been charged with cocaine trafficking after Bibb County deputies seized nearly 2 ounces of cocaine with a street value of more than $6,000, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

After receiving complaints of suspicious activity, investigators made contact with Virgil Marlon Lawrence in a car in a parking lot at the corner of Northside and Wesleyan drives on Wednesday, according to the release.

Deputies seized several grams of cocaine and a handgun from the car. Lawrence gave investigators consent to search his home at 4411 Northside Drive and they found more cocaine, $10,000 in cash and another handgun, according to the release.

Lawrence is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond. He is charged with cocaine trafficking and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the release.
