Macon man cited for leaving dog in car

A 19-year-old Macon man has been cited for cruelty to animals after allegedly leaving a puppy in a truck for about 20 minutes Monday, according to the Macon police.

An officer on patrol noticed a small Labrador retriever inside a truck parked at Wal-Mart on Gray Highway about 3:15 p.m., according to a police report released Tuesday.

The windows were cracked, but the dog didn’t have any water, according to the report.

At 3:33 p.m. the owner of the dog, 19-year-old Eric Daniel Tidwell, of Turner Woods Road, returned to the truck and told the officer he was sorry he left the dog in the truck. He said he didn’t want to leave the dog at home in a hot barn, according to the report.
