Bibb man accused of manslaughter

Members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a man in connection with the death of a Bibb County man, a report said.

According to the report, Cail Hampton Huggins, 22, was taken into custody Thursday evening and charged with involuntary manslaughter after the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant in reference to the death of his stepfather, Matthew R. Kersey, 31, of Nowell Drive. Sheriff’s officials responded to a call at The Medical Center of Central Georgia on Monday morning after responders said Kersey was found dead in his residence. The report said witnesses told authorities the two men had been in a confrontation hours earlier, during which Huggins allegedly struck Kersey.

Autopsy results indicated that Kersey died from injuries he sustained when he fell after being struck, the report said.
