A 93-year-old Macon woman was awakened Monday about 7:45 a.m. on her birthday to the sound of someone breaking through her back door at 639 Williams St.
A gunman robbed her and two other women who were asleep in their beds. A 9-month-old boy was also in the home, said Macon police detective David Patterson.
“Whoever it was pulled out the power meter so they wouldn’t have any lights,” Patterson said.
Annie Johnson, 72, said she had some money on hand that was left over after buying her mother’s present.
“He said, ‘Give me your money. I know you’ve got some money,’” Johnson said. “I told him I keep my money in the bank now.”The gunman made her open drawers until he got the cash he was looking for, she said.
Although only one man came into the house, he was seen running away with another person toward Burke Elementary School, Patterson said.
