Residents interested in improving the Bloomfield community are invited to attend the Project Unity Community Kick-off on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tremont Temple Baptist Church, 5263 Bloomfield Road.
Macon Regional CrimeStoppers Board Chairman Warren Selby said sign-up lists will be available for residents who want to form committees to make a difference in their community. For example, a committee may focus on removing graffiti while another group may work to clean up abandoned homes.
Free food and drink will be provided. Local musicians are scheduled to perform, Selby said.
The event is sponsored by several community groups including CrimeStoppers, the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon police, the U.S. Attorneys Office, Bibb County Schools and other agencies.
