Macon man gets 15 years for Goody’s robbery

A 31-year-old Macon man was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison in connection with the 2008 robbery of Goody’s Family Clothing on Presidential Parkway the day after Thanksgiving, according to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office.

Raphael Dante Shelton, of Mercer University Drive, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and robbery by force in Bibb County Superior Court on Monday, said prosecutor John Regan.

Regan said Shelton snuck into the store right before closing and rounded up all the employees.One of the employees fought back and he beat her unconscious, Regan said.

Shelton stole more than $15,000 in cash, he said.

Charges are still pending against Jacquelyn Denise Raines, 48, who worked at Goody’s at the time of the incident.

Raines, who was dating Shelton at the time of the robbery, is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, according to court records.
