Macon man who beat postal worker gets probation

A 19-year-old Roff Avenue man has been sentenced to serve 15 years on probation and between 700 and 730 days in a probation detention center in connection with the Aug. 14 beating of a U.S. Post Service letter carrier.

Anthony Ramon Brown Jr. pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in Bibb County Superior Court on Monday.

The 41-year-old postal worker sustained broken ribs, abrasions and bruises in the attack in the 4000 block of Napier Avenue. He was taken to Coliseum Northside Hospital where he was treated and released.

Brown also must obtain his GED, pay a $300 fine and pay fees for his attorney and probation.
