Shot fired in carjacking at Bibb County motel

Bibb County deputies are investigating a carjacking and shooting at a motel in the 4700 block of Chambers Road early Friday.

A black, two-door Honda Accord with California license plates was stolen at gunpoint at about 3:15 a.m. by a gunman who fired a shot at the Country Hearth Inn, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. George Meadows said a man and a woman were inside the car in the parking lot when the gunman ordered them out of the car and fired a shot that did not injure anyone.

Kevin Mackey of Macon said the woman with him in the car fled with two of her girlfriends in a red Cadillac Fleetwood before deputies arrived on scene, according to the news release.

Mackey and his friend Steven Mays were borrowing the car from a friend who was overseas in the military and had met the three women in a bar before renting a room at the inn, the release stated.
