DALLAS — Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in Paulding County Superior Court in the murder trial of a man accused of killing a Macon woman as she biked on the Silver Comet Trail.
Michael Ledford is charged in the death of Jennifer Ewing in July 2006 as she rode on the popular cycling and jogging trail northwest of Atlanta.
Prosecutors and a defense attorney have asked that the start of the trial be delayed. Defense lawyers want the delay because they have not been paid by the state. The prosecution wants time to consider any claims that Ledford was mentally ill.
Ledford faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated sodomy, assault and kidnapping.
