Man robbed on Rice Mill Road in south Macon

A man was robbed at gunpoint Monday while walking on Rice Mill Road near Rocky Creek Road in south Macon, according to a Macon police report.

The man told authorities he had walked from his home on Capitol Avenue to the SunTrust Bank at 3625 Pio Nono Ave. to cash a $200 check about 4:30 p.m.

On his way back from the bank, the man said, he noticed a newer model white four-door Lincoln sedan driving nearby. A man got out of the vehicle and approached him.

Soon after, the vehicle had turned around and pulled beside the two men. Someone inside the car rolled down a window and pointed a handgun at the pedestrian, according to the report.

The man walking with the pedestrian robbed him of the cash in his pockets as the gunman threatened to kill him, according to the report.

The assailants then fled the scene in the car. The robbery remains under investigation by Macon police.
