Bibb County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in connection with a traffic accident involving several vehicles late Wednesday on Interstate 75.
Jose M. Perez is charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, no proof of insurance, following too closely and leaving the scene of an accident, according to authorities.
He remained in custody Thursday at the Bibb County jail on a $2,435 bond, according to jail records.
Authorities said Perez was driving a pickup in the southbound lanes of I-75 near the Bass Road exit at about 9 p.m. Wednesday when he caused a series of accidents.
Two people suffered minor injuries when a motor home pulling a trailer overturned. A third vehicle then collided with the pickup and the motor home, according to authorities.
Authorities said Perez fled the scene on foot with a possible head injury. He later was found at the Citgo convenience store on Bass Road.
Evidence collected at the scene indicates alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, according to authorities.
Traffic was interrupted for about two hours while deputies responded to the wreck.
