A Montezuma man is accused of raping a woman after her car had broken down on a rural south Bibb County road Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Ivan Dale Miller, 39, was charged with rape and simple battery, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Miller is accused of offering to help the stranded motorist by giving her a ride but instead taking her to a nearby wooded area and sexually assaulting her, the release said.
She was able to get away and ran to a nearby home for help.

Peach County sheriff’s investigators recognized the suspect’s description from news coverage and contacted Bibb County sheriff’s officials, the release said.
Miller is charged in connection with a separate rape case in Peach County, the release said. Neither Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese nor assistant district attorney Clif Woody could be reached late Monday for comment.
Miller was being held in the Bibb County jail.
