Woman with car trouble attacked by man who offered assistance

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an alleged sexual assault Wednesday in south Bibb County.

A woman told authorities her car had broken down in the county’s industrial area at about 4 p.m. A man driving a dark green pickup truck stopped to offer assistance, she said, and the woman accepted a ride.

The truck driver reportedly drove the woman to a nearby wooded area and sexually assaulted her, according to authorities.

She was able to escape and run to a nearby home for help, according to authorities.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the attacker.

He was described as a white male with freckles and short, red hair in a military or crew cut style and approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build, authorities said. The man may be in his 30s or 40s.

The woman told sheriff’s investigators there was a company logo on the side of the truck and the man had a silver tool box.
