Robber grabs cash register, flees on foot in downtown Macon

A man dressed in black robbed the Flash Foods convenience store early Wednesday morning in downtown Macon.

Macon police say the man entered the store at 1194 Forsyth St., took a cash register off the counter and ran away without displaying a weapon at about 6:40 a.m.

Investigators have surveillance video of the crime that may be released to help identify the culprit, said Sgt. Wilton Collins.

The robber, who was described as a slender black man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a close haircut, ran down College Street headed toward Mount de Sales Academy, Alexander II elementary school and Mercer University.

Yellow crime scene taped roped off the store during the preliminary investigation but was removed at about 8:45 a.m.
