Man accused of robbing Pio Nono Avenue beauty supply store arrested

A man accused of robbing a Pio Nono Avenue beauty supply store just before 5 p.m. Tuesday was arrested about 10 minutes later when officers found him on Rice Mill Road, said Macon police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann.

Deante Gholston, 19, of Newberg Avenue, is accused of entering Golden Beauty Supply, 2525 Pio Nono Ave. Suite D, just before 5 p.m. and demanding money, Hofmann said.

Gholston threatened the worker with an object. A gun was not used. Hofmann didn’t know what kind of object.After the robbery, Gholston ran out of the business.

He soon changed clothes and a witness who saw him called the police with the new clothing description, Hofmann said.

Police spotted Gholston on Rice Mill Road near Williamson Road at 5:10 p.m. and charged him with armed robbery, she said.
