Few clues in found Byromville man’s death

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive in the Friday killing of a Byromville man, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Craig Rotter, assistant special agent in charge of the GBI’s Perry office, said a neighbor found Charlie Murrel, 70, shot to death in his trailer on Church Street early Saturday morning.

Rotter said the GBI isn’t releasing information about how many times Murrel was shot. Investigators haven’t recovered the gun used to shoot Murrel.

“We’re still running out leads and seeing who he had contact with him on Friday,” Rotter said.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the GBI at (478) 987-4545 or the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 645-0920.
