Man wanted for theft jumps out hotel window

A man wanted for theft by Macon police was treated for minor cuts and abrasions after jumping from a third-floor window at the Fairfield Inn on Plantation Inn Drive about 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the hotel after receiving information the accused thief, Terrell Lewis, 31, of Northside Drive, had rented a room there. According to the news release, Lewis jammed the door lock and refused to let anyone in.

While trying to gain entry to the room, deputies heard a window breaking. A deputy ran to the front parking lot of the hotel and found Lewis lying on the ground.

According to the news release, Lewis resisted attempts to handcuff him and a deputy used a Taser on him. Lewis, who also has an outstanding child support warrant in Savannah, was booked into Bibb County jail.
