The reported armed robbery at the Ink Wizard tattoo parlor Thursday night has turned out to be a false report.
Sgt. Melanie Hofmann, public information officer for the Macon Police Department, said the alleged victim, Michael Steven Rock, 21, was charged with making a false report of a crime after claiming a masked gunman robbed him at gunpoint at the shop at 3457 Pio Nono Ave.
Rock originally said a masked gunman wearing black shorts had bolt cutters and forced his way into the business and hit Rock on the head with the bolt cutters, Hoffman said.
During the investigation Rock told police he helped plan the robbery and was supposed to get half of the proceeds.
Rock is also charged with fiduciary theft in the case. Police are not releasing any more details about Rock's alleged accomplice to protect the integrity of the investigation.
