An east Bibb County shooting Monday that left a woman dead and a man injured is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide and suicide attempt, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the home, 5545 Marion Road, at 5:42 p.m. and found Betty Mullis, 71, dead with a gunshot wound to her head.
Her husband, James Wilbur Mullis, 69, was still alive with what authorities said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.He is in critical condition at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Neighbors called 911 at James Mullis’ request not knowing the exact emergency, according to the news release. Mullis left his neighbors house and returned to his home before authorities arrived.
