A clerk faced an armed robber at the gas station as she opened the business at 6 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.Lt. George Meadows said the man was waiting in the booth for the worker and used a blade to try to steal the cash from the register.
The two were struggling when a customer drove up and the man with the knife ran toward Vineville North Baptist Church across from the Wal-mart shopping center without any money, Meadows said. The gas station employee suffered a minor scratch in the confrontation, he said.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether this case is related to a similar armed robbery at the Murphy’s Express on Gray Highway about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. Blount, who was convicted of robbery by force in 2003, also is an employee of Murphy U.S.A, but is assigned to the Harrison Road location, according to the release.
