A 27-year-old Felton Avenue man is charged with third-degree arson after admitting he set a house ablaze on Lowe Street, according to Macon police.
“I finally did it. I set that house on fire,” William Jeffery Lowder is reported to have said after approaching a Macon police officer in a parking lot just after 2 a.m. Thursday, according to a police report.
The officer then drove Lowder to 2154 Lowe St., a boarded up house.
Although the house did not appear to be on fire, Lowder told the officer he entered through the back door and set fire to a front room, according to the report.

After walking around the house, the officer saw black smoke coming out of the back door and called for the fire department, police said in the report.
