A 23-year-old man is charged with burglary and felony obstruction after fighting with a police investigator at an Eisenhower Parkway gas station Thursday afternoon, according to Macon police.
Investigator Stephen Hutto heard a burglary reported at 2688 Kent Drive on his police radio and drove to the area about 1 p.m,, said Lt. Eric Walker.
Hutto saw a man running who matched the suspect description from the burglary and followed him to the BP gas station, located at Eisenhower Parkway and Laveta Drive, where he confronted the man, Walker said.
An altercation ensued and the man, later identified as Anthony Barnes, knocked Hutto’s police radio out of his hand while he attempted to call for back up, Walker said.

A van pulled up and a resident, Rodney Jones, helped Hutto subdue Barnes, he said.
A woman traveling with Jones retrieved Hutto’s police radio and gave it back to Hutto only to have Barnes knock it out of his hand again as he again tried to call for help, Walker said.
Barnes was taken into custody when additional officers arrived.
