Woman shot during robbery in Macon

A 61-year-old woman was in stable condition late Tuesday after being shot in the chest during a robbery attempt, according to news release from Macon police.

Sue Mitchell was walking up to her front door at 1095 Newberg Ave. when she was approached by a male gunman at about 8 p.m., the release states. The assailant demanded money from her, then shot her. Mitchell was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
