Macon man arrested in attempted robbery at ATM

Two men attempted to rob a customer at the Bank of America ATM, 1250 Gray Highway, at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Macon police.

A 59-year-old Macon man told police one robber walked up to his driver’s side window and tapped on it with a black hand gun and then pointed the gun at him, according to a police report.

A second man then walked from behind the customer’s car and up to the passenger’s side window, according to the report.

The second robber ran when he saw the customer had a .22 caliber handgun in his own hand. The customer then fired off one round out the window and the first robber ran away, according to the report.Officers soon apprehended 18-year-old Raymond Labrone King of Maynard Circle and charged him with criminal attempt to commit robbery, according to the report and Bibb County jail records. King is being held on $1,200 bond, according to jail records.

Police still are searching for the second man.
