A witness to a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred Monday night on Emery Highway near Short Street has told police he saw a man lying down in the road and an eastbound white pickup truck run over the man at about 7:45 p.m., according to a Macon police report.
The witness said the truck kept on driving and he did not see the tag number or get a good look at the driver, according to the report.
The pedestrian, 50-year-old Terry Leon Raines of Mohawk Road in Macon, was pronounced dead at The Medical Center of Central Georgia following the accident.
Investigators need help from witnesses to identify the vehicle that hit him. Middle Georgia Regional CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the hit-and-run fatality.
