A Bonaire man faces a slew of traffic-related charges after leading a Georgia State Patrol sergeant on a high-speed chase Monday on Interstate 475.
Kelsey Ramal Thomas, 20, was driving a motorcycle north on I-475 just after 10 a.m. when Georgia State Patrol Sgt. John Bloodworth noticed a tag violation and tried to stop him near mile marker 2.
“The driver refused to stop and the chase ensued,” Bloodworth said.
Thomas exited at Mercer University Drive, then got back on the interstate traveling at "speeds well over 100 mph," Bloodworth said.
Thomas continued north to Zebulon Road and exited again, turning right toward Peake Road.
“He continued to flee but could not stop and struck a sport utility vehicle in the rear” at the intersection of Zebulon and Peake roads, Bloodworth said.
The driver of the car was unharmed, but Thomas had minor injuries.
He was taken into custody and driven to the Medical Center, Navicent Health.
Thomas faces charges including driving without a motorcycle license, a tag violation and other charges related to the pursuit.
