Warner Robins High School’s drama department will welcome the holiday season with a special performance of Charles M. Schulz’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” The play is based on the famous television special.
The production stays true to the television show and stars Sam Copeland as Charlie Brown, Sam Herring as Lucy, Raimi Davis as Linus and Tra Morris as Snoopy.
“I think that everyone enjoys a good Christmas show and this is an American classic,” said Nicholas Sostillio, drama teacher at Warner Robins High School. “It was a perfect fit for the class, and the audience will enjoy it because they are so familiar with it. It’s a Christmas classic, an American classic.”
Sostillio said that the play is almost word-to-word the same as the television show, but the Warner Robins drama department put its own stamp on it.
“We have a great doghouse for Snoopy and some snow effects. We tried to incorporate some fun elements to bring it to life and to make it 3D instead of 2D like it is usually is,” Sostillio said.
The school will perform “A Charlie Brown Christmas” twice -- the Saturday performance was timed to be held between the Warner Robins and Centerville Christmas parades.
Santa Claus will be there after each show, and a toy shop has been set up so that children can meet with him.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be performed at 7 p.m. Thursday and at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Warner Robins High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5.
