Michaela Heide was crowned Miss Northside 2014 in the school’s annual pageant held Nov. 20 in the Ray Horne Theater at Northside High School.
Heide, who is in 11th grade, performed a ballet dance for her talent. She is a former Miss Thomson Middle School and is the reigning Miss Dogwood Teen.
Being in the Miss Northside pageant is a family tradition; Heide’s mother also competed when she attended Northside High School.
“I like performing, I like being on stage and I have the opportunity to perform my talent, ballet,” Heide said.
Heide is involved in One Act and has performed in the spring musical at Northside High School. She is an Eagle ambassador and a member of the Beta Club.
Along with representing Northside High School for the next year based on her win, Heide will compete in the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen pageant.
Marcy Waugh, the director of the Miss Warner Robins pageant, a Miss Georgia preliminary pageant, said the winner of any high school pageant, as long as it is judged by a panel, is eligible to go to Miss Georgia as a preliminary. Depending on her age, a high school winner can compete in either the Teen or Miss portion at Miss Georgia.
“It is a great opportunity for scholarship money,” said Brian Barnett, drama director at Northside High School. “It is a great chance to get their name out there and with the level of talent at Miss Georgia, Michaela will be a great competitor.”
Besides Heide, the top 10 finalists included Kayla Hopper, Olivia Kessel, Sarah Slappey, Kate Keifer, Nayah Terry, Paige Ringer, Melanie Wood, Hannah Broeils and Krista Lavender.
The winner of Miss Congeniality was Hopper; Academic winner was Virginia Buzzell and the Application winner was Heide, who also won Interview.

In the talent category, third place went to Broeils; second place to Paige Ringer and first place was won by Heide.
