Regardless of age or physical limitations, the release stated, the women compete by raising awareness about homelessness among women veterans. They are also evaluated on poise, grace, and knowledge of military history. They raise funds for Final Salute Inc., a charity that assists homeless women veterans.
Figueroa would be the first Latina to win the competition, the release stated.
