Pedestrian seriously hurt after struck by cab in Warner Robins

WARNER ROBINS -- A pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after being struck at the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Knodishall Drive.

Shedrick L. Jones, 38, of Warner Robins, first was taken to Houston Medical Center and then to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, according to a police news release.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Jones was attempting to cross Watson. Both westbound lanes of traffic were stopped for a traffic signal at the intersection of Nelson Drive. Jones started across the road in an area that was not marked with a crosswalk and was between the stopped vehicles.

As he reached the center turn lane, Jones was struck by a westbound White Top cab on Watson that was entering the left turn lane, the release said. A 40-year-old Centerville woman was driving the cab, a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, and was not hurt.

No charges have been filed, the release said.

The 3:11 p.m. accident closed a section of Watson for about 2 1/2 hours.
