Fort Valley has received an improved ISO rating of 3 following a review of its structural fire suppression delivery system.
The previous rating was 4/9, according to a Fort Valley Public Safety Department news release.
“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment,” Public Safety Director Lawrence Spurgeon said in the release. “We will continue to work hard to provide our citizens with the best service possible.”
The Insurance Services Office gives a ranking of 1 through 10, with 1 being the best and 10 being no protection at all.
According to the release, Fort Valley fire is among 4 percent nationwide and 5 percent statewide to earn an ISO classification of 3.
The Fort Valley Fire Department is a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters.
