A person died after being struck with a forklift in Perry Tuesday afternoon, according to the Perry Police Department.

Perry Police and Fire departments responded to the incident at the entrance of Woodlands Boulevard and Highway 127 around 3:30 p.m., according to a news release from PPD.

“First responders discovered that a victim had been accidentally struck by a commercial forklift,” police said.

The victim sustained “serious injuries” and medical aid was provided at the scene, officers said. Emergency medical services took the person to Houston Medical Center where they later died.

Perry police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were still investigating the circumstances of the incident Wednesday.
