With temperatures expected to plunge below freezing overnight over the next several days, a Warner Robins church is offering a refuge and a warm meal.

No Limit Baptist Church at 1352 Radio Loop will open its doors at 5 p.m. starting Friday for members of the homeless community.

In partnership with the city of Warner Robins, the warming shelter goes into effect when temperatures drop below 32 degrees and operates from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., according to a city of Warner Robins news release.

The warming shelter is expected to remain open nightly through Tuesday.

Brian Wise, a city code enforcement officer, will operate a shuttle starting at 6 p.m. each night to help transport people to the warming shelter.

Community members encountering anyone in need of transportation are encouraged to call or text Wise at 478-538-5115 or Pastor Vince Harrington at 786-286-4457.

“In moments of extreme cold, our faith calls us to act with love and compassion,” Harrington said in a news release. “Through the ‘Food in the Valley Ministry,’ we strive to ensure every individual has a warm place to escape the harsh elements.

“Partnering with the city of Warner Robins allows us to serve our neighbors in a greater capacity, showing that together, we can bring hope and safety to those most vulnerable.”

Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said in the release that “the partnership exemplifies the true spirit of Warner Robins — a community built on compassion and collaboration.

“My deepest thanks go to Pastor Harrington and the congregation at No Limit Baptist Church for their tireless efforts to provide warmth, food, and dignity to those in need. Together, we are making a lasting impact, proving that no one in our city is forgotten, especially on the coldest nights.”

Community members can also help by providing the following items:

  • Bedding such as pillows, blankets and sheets
  • Hot meals
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Paper products, including cups, plates, napkins and utensils.
  • Hygiene products for care packages
  • Portable Heaters

Monetary Donations also are welcome: text GIVE to 833-979-3054 and follow the prompts. To specify donations for the homeless, text: GIVE [amount] HOMELESS or thru Cash App: $Nolimitshelter, according to the release.

Additionally, volunteers are needed.

“Your generosity will make a significant impact on the success of this program, providing warmth, comfort and a sense of security to those facing the harsh realities of homelessness during the coldest nights,” the release said.

For more information, call Harrington at 786-286-4457 or Wise at 478-538-5115.
