Warner Robins police are offering basic handgun classes for women this month.
The free classes will cover topics including handgun safety, selection and maintenance, the basics of shooting a handgun and state law regarding private ownership and carrying handguns, according to a Warner Robins police news release.
The three classes are grouped in two sets, and participants may choose from the two sets, the release said.
The first set of classes will be offered from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 18 and Jan. 20 and from 8 a.m. until noon Jan. 22, the release stated. The second set of classes are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and Jan. 26 and from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 29.
The classes are designed for those with little to no experience with handguns, according to the release. Each participant is required to bring a handgun of good quality and proper caliber, 50 rounds of ammunition and eye and ear protection.
The classes are held at the Warner Robins Police Department Training Center at 210 Stalnaker Ave. To register, call Warner Robins police Capt. John Clay at (478) 293-1060.
