Two people were taken to a Macon hospital after a two-vehicle crash shortly before noon Monday on Sandefur Road in Perry, a sheriff’s traffic investigator said.

David William Thompkins, 40, of Warner Robins, was driving a 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup west on Sandefur Road when he crossed the center line, striking an eastbound 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Edith Johnson, 64, of Perry, at 11:54 a.m, Houston County sheriff’s Cpl. Ben Lashley said.

Thompkins was partially ejected from the truck, and both Thompkins and Johnson were extricated from their vehicles by Perry firefighters, Lashley said. A passenger in the pickup, Tara Longbine, 34, of Kathleen, declined treatment, Lashley said.

Thompkins was in stable condition at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, while Johnson was listed in critical but stable condition, said Janie Poulnott, hospital spokeswoman.
