A Byron man was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 75 southbound, Georgia State Patrol trooper Mark Collier said.
At about 9 a.m. the man, 76, drove an older model Buick north down the off-ramp at exit 138 into traffic traveling south on I-75.
After driving against traffic in the middle lane, a Chrysler Town and Country van struck the man’s vehicle. Five to 10 minutes before the accident, an alert had been issued on the driver of the car, who was on medication, Collier said.
There were two passengers in the van, a man and a woman from Florida, both in their 70s. The male driver sustained several injuries. A female passenger was going to seek medical care, Collier said.
Collier declined to name the victim or the other passengers involved in the accident.
The accident closed the middle and inside lanes of I-75 south for about an hour.
