A man was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a train along Ga. 247 between Watson Boulevard and Green Street.
Houston County sheriff’s Lt. Jon Holland said authorities are attempting to confirm the man’s identity and notify next of kin.
It’s not yet known why the man was on the tracks when he was struck by the train, Holland said.
The area around the crash site initially was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape as firefighters, emergency workers and sheriff’s deputies responded.
The crash happened during the lunch hour, Holland said.
Traffic flow along Watson Boulevard and Green Street was not disrupted, Holland said.
