Woman killed, grandson hurt crossing road

A 55-year-old Warner Robins woman was hit and killed while crossing Watson Boulevard with her grandson Tuesday night.

Feng Jing Zhang was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia immediately after the accident but died at the hospital, according to a news release from the Warner Robins Police Department.

Zhang’s 2-year-old grandson was on life support when he was airlifted from Houston Medical Center to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta where he was listed in critical condition, the release stated.

Investigators determined 17-year-old Christian Harrison, of Byron, was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer shortly before 9:20 p.m. in the eastbound inside lane of Watson Boulevard and had the green light at the intersection of Collins Avenue where Zhang was rapidly trying to get across the street. She was wearing black clothes, and Harrison’s vehicle hit her and her grandson, causing severe impact trauma to both, the release stated.

Harrison was not hurt in the accident, which is under investigation by the traffic division of the Warner Robins Police Department.
