PERRY — If you are a Perry utility customer and don’t pay your bill, the city will not restore your utility after normal business hours. The Perry City Council adopted such a policy during its regular meeting Tuesday. Customers who fail to pay must have their service turned on during regular business hours. Also, the call-outs will be performed if the city staff made an error or there was an unforeseen suspension of the city’s service.
Call-outs for natural gas will be processed if a danger is posed to property or health.
The policy should save the city money. Public works director Ronnie Jones said the call-outs were accounting for 20 to 30 hours of overtime monthly.
