Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Little League Southeastern Region headquarters will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Warner Robins. Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, Little League International President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen D. Keener and Little League International board chairman Dennis Lewin will be among those participating, along with Houston County Board of Commissioners Chariman Ned Sanders, Warner Robins Mayor Donald Walker and Heidi Green, deputy commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
Ken Hathaway, president of Warner Robins American Little League, will serve as master of ceremonies.The new headquarters building and tournament stadium are being built on 26 acres donated by the county adjacent to the Warner Robins America Little League complex on Snellgrove Drive off Cohen Walker Road just south of Ga. 96.
Little League International chose Warner Robins over several other cities to be the new Southeastern Region home late last year. The stadium is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2010 tournament. This year’s tournament will be held in West Virginia after many years at the former region home in Tampa, Fla.
